Dentures - Jacksonville, FL

We Create Quality, Fitting Dentures

Considering Dentures in Jacksonville, FL?

Dentures are a prosthetic device that can be used to replace multiple teeth or an entire arch. Unlike dental implants that are secured directly to the jawbone, this type of teeth replacement rest gently on the soft oral tissue. Yesterday’s dentures proved to be challenging for some, but with today’s technology, the Specialists at the Jacksonville Center for Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry have the experience, skill and resources to design prosthetics that look natural and fit comfortably.

Custom Dentures

As a Prosthodontist, Dr. Rodriguez has advanced training and patients benefit from his over 30 years of experience. He uses only the finest materials and selects artificial teeth from only the best manufacturers in the world. His attention to detail ensures that you will have the most comfortable fit, functional performance and an attractive smile.

There are several different types including:

  • Full or complete - missing all their teeth in the upper or lower arch
  • Partial or removable - patients missing some of their teeth.
  • Immediate - placed the same day the teeth are removed
  • Fixed partial - made with crowns fitting on the remaining teeth (that act as abutments) and artificial teeth.

The process of fabricating begins with obtaining a very accurate impression using a custom tray and border molding. Precise impressions (molds) assure that your dentures will fit look natural and let you chew in comfort and confidence.

My dentures used to fit – but now they don’t. What happened?

Although dentures are typically durable enough to provide years of use, things can happen that cause the prosthetic device to no longer fit properly, slip out of place and/or cause discomfort with eating or talking. Over time, a person's jaw line may deteriorate due to aging, cavities and missing teeth which then cause the jawbone to deteriorate around the root of the tooth. When deterioration occurs, the jaw line changes shape resulting in a prosthetic device that no longer fits. Gum disease can also cause the jaw to increase its size of the jaw due to swelling. And, of course, as with any tooth replacement it can become worn or damaged. Dentures should be restructured or replaced every seven to 10 years—and sooner if you notice that they no longer fit correctly.
