Dedicated to the Highest Standards of Care in the Restoration and Replacement of Teeth

WHAT IS A PROSTHODONTIST?

Anyone who has ever been to our office realizes that Dr. Gielincki is a Prosthodontist.  Most people have a good understanding of our practice and the services we offer but are not familiar with our specialty and how we are different from general dentists.

Prosthodontists are dental specialists in the restoration and replacement of teeth.  After completing four years of dental school, prosthodontists receive three additional years of specialized training in an American Dental Association accredited university based graduate education program.  Prosthodontics is one of the nine specialties recognized by the ADA.

Rigorous training and extensive experience provides Dr. Gielincki with a special understanding of the dynamics of a smile, the preservation of a healthy mouth and the creation of tooth replacements.  Serving as the architect of a dental treatment plan, Dr. Gielincki often collaborates with other specialists to develop solutions to your dental concerns.

The focus of our practice is the management and solution of challenging restorative problems.  Most of our patients are referred to our office by other dentists that recognize a circumstance or situation that would be best managed by a specialist.  Often our patients refer family and friends that could benefit from the services we offer.  Sometimes patients are just looking for someone with the best training and experience they can find to help them with their dental concerns.

We believe that credentials are important.  The services we provide often cannot readily be reversed.  Sometimes challenging cases require extensive treatment and it can be a significant investment.  You certainly need to have it done right the first time. You do not want someone getting on the job training with your smile.

All dentists seek out continuing education.  It is absolutely necessary and required by law to keep abreast to the new developments in dentistry.  However, taking weekend courses does not make you an expert.  Many dentists list impressive sounding titles and credentials that are not recognized by the American Dental Association.  Slick infomercials make any dentist seem special.  Weekend courses in Las Vegas or other resort cities certainly are a great way to learn new skills.  But it is not the same as the completion of years of formal training in an accredited residency program.  Continuing education alone does not make you a legitimate specialist.

Dr. Gielincki graduated with Honors from Georgetown University’s School of Dentistry and then completed his Prosthodontics residency at the University of North Carolina’s school of dentistry.  He has completed countless hours of continuing education courses.  Dr. Gielincki has maintained a private practice as a specialist in Prosthodontics in Jacksonville for 25 years and is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics.
