Prosthodontics: Charting the Course of Your Smile
Prosthodontists are dental specialists who perform a wide variety of procedures involving the restoration and replacement of teeth — everything from crowns and bridges, to dental implants and oral surgery.
We offer a wide range of treatments that affect both the form and function of your smile. We treat patients who are missing one or two teeth, to patients who require full mouth reconstruction. We work with other doctors to treat patients with birth defects (such as a cleft palate). We also work with patients who have jaw joint disorders, and cancer or trauma patients who require complex rehabilitation.
We work with your family dentist, and with other specialists when necessary, to chart the course for your smile. Open, two-way communication is essential to successful treatment and we encourage your questions every step of the way on your journey to a healthy, vibrant smile.

TREATMENT
Natural Looking Crowns
Crowns (also called 'caps') are non-removable 'jackets' that cover your natural tooth. They not only protect the tooth but restore form and function. Crowns are recommended for teeth with large or worn fillings, large cavities, cracks or other damage.
Before After
Crowns can be made of metal or porcelain (or a combination of both), but in all cases, they strengthen and protect the remaining part of your tooth. Impressions of your tooth are taken and the crown is carefully shaded to match the color of your natural teeth. In fact, porcelain crowns are the natural-looking solution that nobody will know you have.

Implants
If you're missing a tooth (or teeth) you'll be glad to know that dentures are not your only option. Nowadays, we can replace teeth using a dental implant, probably the greatest advancement in dentistry since anesthesia. With implants you can laugh, bite, and chew just as you would with your natural teeth. That's because they are the next best thing to natural teeth — prosthetic teeth that are attached to permanently imbedded anchors.
Before After
There are a number of great reasons to consider implants:
They're secure. No slipping or wobbling as with dentures. No "teeth in a glass" at night. You can eat with confidence, and do everything you used to do with natural teeth. Your implants always stay in place.
They help save your remaining teeth. Unlike bridges, implants don't require the support of your remaining teeth — they are strong and independent, leaving the rest of your teeth untouched. And that's good news for your long-term dental health.
They look great! People with dental implants tend to smile more. That's because of the renewed confidence that comes with having a great looking smile — a natural-feeling, natural-looking smile.
Can Anyone Get Implants?
People of all ages have enjoyed the benefits of implants, but there are some considerations. You need to be in good general health, there must be enough bone to support the implant, and ideally your gums should be free of disease.
How Long Do Implants Take?
The whole procedure, from consultation to new smile, takes about 9 months. Don't worry, though — during that time you should experience no significant disruption to your normal activities. In some special cases the implants can be restored in one week.
How Do I Take Care of My Implants?
The same way you take care of natural teeth. Implants require no special maintenance, but it is just as important to keep brushing and flossing — and don't forget your regular check-ups!

Custom Dentures
Dentures are the traditional solution for the loss of all the teeth in one arch. We will work with you to ensure a satisfactory color and shape. Full dentures remain secured by fitting them to gum ridges and forming suction within the mouth. Dentures can help many people gain the self-confidence that comes with a natural, healthy-looking smile.
Before After
Although they're not very common, immediate dentures can be placed in certain cases. This involves making your new smile first and then extracting all of the teeth in the arch and replacing them immediately with a denture. This is only recommended for patients who suffer from severe infection or decay of all the teeth in one arch.

Custom Temporaries
Before After
During the course of your treatment, such as with bridge work and crowns, you will need to wear temporary prosthetics until your permanent teeth are crafted. We are here to make sure that your custom temporaries look as close as possible, in shape and color, to your natural teeth. This is a very important stage in your smile design process because it allows the prosthodontist to customize your new smile.
TMJ Treatment
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder has many symptoms. You may have TMJ if you suffer from jaw pain, have problems opening your mouth wide, or notice clicking noises in your jaw during movement. Other symptoms may include frequent headaches or neck aches.
There are several causes of TMJ, including teeth grinding and accidental damage to the jaw joint. Once we have diagnosed TMJ, we will get you on a treatment program to correct the problem and get your jaw working smoothly.
Comfortable Partials
The partial loss of teeth can be improved dramatically with a snap-in partial denture. Partial dentures are removable and should be cleaned frequently. They are made of plastic and pink acrylic and use a metal substructure with attachments, or snaps, to hold them secure.
The decision to use a partial depends on several factors, including bone support, mouth conformation, the condition of the remaining teeth, and the patient's overall health
Tooth Colored Fillings/Inlays/Onlays
We are all familiar with fillings made with mercury amalgams. However, there is an alternative — tooth-colored fillings. These restorations not only look natural, but they're stronger than mercury amalgams.
Before After
When the majority of a tooth is damaged by either decay or trauma, fillings may not be enough. Inlays resemble fillings and are designed to rest inside the cusps of the tooth. Onlays are used for more extensive areas and cover at least one cusp of the tooth. They can be made of gold or porcelain (or a combination of both).
Full Mouth Reconstruction
Full mouth reconstruction involves drawing up a comprehensive treatment plan for smiles that need to be remodeled. This procedure may be required where there are extreme complications with teeth, gums or surrounding bone. We work with your general practitioner and, if required, other specialists to re-build your smile. Upon completion of this dramatic treatment, you will have a smile with proper form and function — the smile of your dreams!
Veneers
Veneers are natural looking, durable shells made of porcelain and bonded directly onto teeth. The porcelain reflects light just like real teeth. Our patients love the new look veneers can provide!
Whitening
Teeth that have been stained or discolored can regain their shine with this safe and effective procedure. Whitening not only returns the natural brilliance to a smile, but it can be done at home or at the office in only one sitting!
Maxillofacial Prosthodontics
This is a sub-specialty of prosthodontics and involves the surgical support and reconstruction of cancer and trauma patients. Through this treatment, patients are rehabilitated and able to return to normal lives.
Technology
We are committed to providing our patients with the latest technologies. As new advancements and materials emerge, you can trust us to be at the forefront to give you the best treatment available.
Intraoral Camera
Now you can see what we see! The Intraoral camera is a small device that allows us to show you the inside of your mouth, including close-ups of individual teeth. With the camera, you are able to make better-informed decisions about your treatment.
Digital X-ray
Digital X-rays are faster than traditional X-rays and produce 90% less radiation! Digital X-rays are connected directly to computers, which allows you to see the results in only a few seconds.

What is a Prosthodontist?
A prosthodontist specializes in the restoration and replacement of teeth — everything from crowns and bridges, to implants. Our procedures are designed to return the smile to your face.
Prosthodontists must undergo several years of additional training after graduating from general dentistry. They also take continuing education to keep up with advances in technologies and techniques. Click here to get to know Dr. Gielincki.
Why Do I Need a Full Mouth X-ray?
It's very important for us to be able to have a clear and full picture regarding the condition of your teeth and jaws before treatment. It's for this reason that almost every treatment we perform requires a full mouth X-ray. With it, we can determine the health of your natural teeth, and of the supporting bone structure. Having a complete picture of your dental health allows us to develop a treatment plan that is right for you.
What are Mounted Study Models?
Study models are replications of your teeth and jaw movement and are important tools for dentists during the course of your treatment. They allow us to evaluate your bite three-dimensionally and model the shape and structure of your new smile. Models also allow us to see how your new smile will look.
Am I a Candidate for Dental Implants?
If you are missing one or more teeth, you are a candidate for dental implants. Dental implants provide a natural-looking smile that restores the feel and the function of natural teeth! Implants can improve your appearance, your ability to eat your favorite foods, and your self-confidence. For more information on dental implants, click here.
Do I Need to be Referred by my GP to Get an Appointment?
No. Although we receive many patient referrals from general practitioners and other dental specialists, a referral isn't required to make an appointment. If you feel that you could benefit from our services, please give us a call.
How Do I Schedule An Initial Appointment?
It's easy. Just give us a call at 904-281-0658 and our friendly staff will assist you.
What About Treatment Costs?
The total cost will vary by case and complexity, but because our modern techniques often require fewer visits, you might be surprised at how affordable treatment can be. We know that many of our patients are concerned with their budgets and we can offer special payment plans for your convenience.
A beautiful, healthy smile is one of the best investments in you, and to help make it more affordable we offer a variety of payment methods:
We accept cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard or Discover Card. If necessary for particularly comprehensive treatment, we will arrange a payment program for you.
During your first visit and evaluation, we will be happy to explain all your financial options and work on customizing a payment plan that fits your needs.
Why Do I Need an Implant if I Could Get a Bridge?
A great benefit of implants is that they can be used without compromising other teeth. However, replacing a missing tooth with a bridge requires grinding down the teeth on both sides of the gap so that a bridge can be cemented to them. With an implant, the neighboring teeth do not need to be affected by treatment.
Does a Prosthodontist Treat Children?
Yes. Usually children are referred to us by other dentists. However, if you are wondering if your child may benefit from prosthodontic treatment, feel free to give us a call.
Will I Ever Get Dentures That Fit Comfortably?
Yes. Thanks to today's modern implants and materials (such as thermoplastic cushion liners), the end result is comfort, function and a beautiful smile.
Will I Get Implants in One Treatment?
No. Once we have determined that dental implants are your best option, an implant will be surgically placed into your jawbone. After the implant is integrated and stable, the custom abutment and implant crown can be placed to complete the process. Click here to learn more about dental implants.
What Do I Do When Others Say Nothing Can Be Done?
With today's modern techniques and technologies, Dr. Gielincki offers hope. Smiles that are often called "hopeless" by other dentists are just another success story in our office.
What is TMJ Disorder?
TMJ disorder, or temporomandibular joint disorder, is a problem that involves the joint in the front of the ear where the jaw and skull meet. Symptoms of TMJ include jaw pain, difficulty opening the mouth wide, and clicking noises in the jaw during movement. Other symptoms may include frequent headaches or neck aches.
